A baker's tart, sometimes called a baker's pizza, is a tart with a base made of bread dough.

This version, without tomatoes, combines tuna with mushrooms.

Step by step recipe


Stage 1 - 5 min.
Baker's tuna and mushroom tart
Roll out 1 lb + 1.6 oz bread dough with a rolling pin to fit your tin or mould, either rectangular...

Stage 2 - 3 min.

...or round, then line the tin with it.

Set aside.

Stage 3 - 10 min.

Prepare and slice 1 lb + 10.4 oz button or field mushrooms.

Reserve.

Stage 4 - 2 min.

Prepare and chop 1 onion.

Heat 3 tablespoons olive oil in a large saucepan on medium heat. When good and hot, add the onion, salt and pepper. Cook for 1 or 2 minutes without colouring.

Stage 5 - 1 min.

Add the sliced mushrooms...

Stage 6 - 5 min.

...and mix well.

Cook for about 5 minutes until the mushrooms are soft.

Stage 7 - 1 min.

Add 7.0 oz tuna in oil.

Stage 8 - 2 min.

Then add 7.0 oz cream and mix well.

Check the seasoning and take off the heat.

Preheat the oven to 430°F (220°C).

Stage 9 - 3 min.

Spread the mixture over the bread-dough base, then bake...

Stage 10 - 30 min.

...for about 30 minutes.
